This is a revision of Ansel Adams' Bridalveil Falls, which I constructed out of chocolate, coffee grounds, icing, and flour. I wanted to not only fool the viewer into thinking they were looking at a landscape when they weren't, but also make them think about the materials that I used. They all came from nature, yet they have been processed and are much less natural when I began to use them to create an artificial nature.

I took these shots in a hidden wooded area behind Walter Reed Army Hospital in the DC/Maryland area. I only happened to stumble upon this area... it is so quiet and beautiful, unexpected in this area.

I wanted to go for a look that allows the viewer to come up with a conclusion and back story on why this woman is outside in the dead of night, dressed as if she was going out, and who/what she is looking at.

This series came about after I saw a news special on women that treat lifelike dolls like they are their living children. I was very curious about the mental state of these women and their need to exercise their maternal instincts.

Body as Landscape

For this series, I wanted to play with size and perception... to fool the eye into thinking it is looking at a vast landscape, when it is really looking at parts of the human body.

This is a series I did for a class, that documents a woman meeting a potential mate online and the events that follow. I was inspired by the artist Cindy Sherman, especially her photograph Untitled #90, which shows a woman waiting by the telephone for a call (presumably from a man). I wanted to take this idea of a woman going through this relationship humiliation- only in a more modern way. Online dating and technology in general has made people faceless, and in the series, the man standing her up has no idea the hurt he is causing her. If he chooses to, he never has to meet this girl and tell her face to face why he isn't showing up. Instead of this woman breaking down in the privacy of her own home, she is going through this in public for all to see. I wanted the viewer to feel her anxiety and hurt as well as the passage of time.
